About the Role

The Director, Marketing Strategy & Planning Global Demand Generation at Okta is a pivotal leadership role responsible for establishing and championing Okta's global demand generation strategy and planning framework. The role involves leading a team of strategy and planning professionals, partnering with senior marketing and GTM leadership, and ensuring alignment with company objectives. The position emphasizes operational excellence, data-informed decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration within a high-growth SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and own the global annual and quarterly marketing planning process for Demand Generation Marketing, collaborating with leadership and key stakeholders in Sales, GTM Strategy & Planning, and Finance.
  • Shape strategic direction and validate alignment with company objectives to ensure optimal return on investment for marketing initiatives.
  • Strategically prioritize marketing investments, facilitate alignment on trade-off decisions, and establish an investment framework to assess business outcomes and guide resource allocation.
  • Oversee and enhance the global Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process for Demand Generation Marketing, synthesizing performance insights and presenting findings to senior leadership.
  • Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making by delivering analytical insights on marketing performance to stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, and GTM Strategy & Planning.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leaders, providing counsel on strategic direction, operational improvements, and initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead and execute complex, cross-functional, global strategic initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring organizational alignment.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of marketing strategy and planning professionals.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Analytics leadership to develop robust reporting capabilities that meet strategic needs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Marketing Strategy & Planning, Strategic Analytics, or similar leadership roles within a high-growth B2B SaaS company.
  • 8+ years of proven experience managing and optimizing large global marketing budgets and resource allocation with ROI analysis expertise.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS business drivers, including pipeline and revenue analytics, full-funnel metrics, and marketing technology foundations.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing global marketing strategies that drive business growth in complex environments.
  • Exceptional strategic, analytical, and structured thinking skills with the ability to develop clear frameworks and data-backed solutions.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams across distributed organizations.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams in a results-oriented environment.
  • BS/BA degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience with SaaS pipeline and revenue analytics.
  • Familiarity with marketing technology and investment frameworks.
