About the Role

The Director of Marketing at Harvard University is a strategic leadership role responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to drive enrollment, increase brand awareness, and engage the target audience for the Program on Negotiation (PON). This position involves managing content development, website management and optimization, digital marketing, budgeting, team and agency coordination, and supporting Harvard's mission through innovative marketing initiatives. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to maximize educational impact and financial performance, contributing to Harvard's vibrant academic community and commitment to diversity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership and administration, working externally with stakeholders including web developers, analysts, digital and email marketing teams, editors, designers, and copywriters, as well as internally with colleagues across PON.
  • Work with PON's program delivery teams to secure program dates, launch schedules, and deadlines for web and materials development.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor marketing budgets and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the web development team to ensure website quality, security, and accessibility, including system uptime and safety.
  • Manage the creation and development of engaging content to support PON's newsletter program and website traffic.
  • Coordinate website content related to programs and mission with all PON stakeholders.
  • Define and execute comprehensive email marketing strategies aligned with overall goals.
  • Oversee the creation, scheduling, testing, and deployment of email campaigns in partnership with external agencies.
  • Develop promotional materials such as brochures, event collateral, swag, and trade show displays.
  • Conduct systems analysis and coordinate analytics updates for web, email, and social media platforms.
  • Provide strategic support through market research, program development, and outreach strategies to expand enrollment and visibility.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and recommend curriculum and delivery improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of progressive marketing management experience.
  • Experience managing external agencies to achieve business goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage, write, and review marketing content.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Goal-oriented with adaptability to change and new opportunities.
