About the Role

The Director of Marketing is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for bringing greater alignment, focus, and impact to the marketing efforts across Shaffer Distributing and Shaffer Entertainment. This position involves strengthening the company's digital presence, messaging, and sales support within a collaborative, growing, and employee-owned environment. The role supports a 96-year-old company with roots in arcade equipment distribution and amusement operations, aiming to enhance visibility and market positioning through effective marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help shape and unify how the company presents itself to the market through brand strategy and messaging.
  • Create a message that reflects the company's history and future direction.
  • Clarify how offerings connect to customer needs and interests.
  • Lead development and optimization of websites and content strategy.
  • Strengthen presence on social media and other digital channels.
  • Develop digital materials to increase visibility and customer engagement.
  • Track and analyze digital marketing performance to provide insights.
  • Build consistent, on-brand sales tools and collateral.
  • Support the sales team with templates, messaging, and customer-facing materials.
  • Improve and align planning and messaging for tradeshow and event marketing.
  • Support pre-show, onsite, and post-show strategies and materials.
  • Develop a marketing roadmap aligned with business priorities.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Drive consistency, clarity, and follow-through across marketing initiatives.
  • Work closely with sales, leadership, and vendor partners to amplify impact and bring a marketing perspective to cross-functional conversations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on marketing experience, including brand, digital, and content strategy.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and leads.
  • Proficiency with CRM and marketing automation platforms.
  • Strong writing and content development skills across formats (web, email, print, etc.).
  • Ability to create and edit visual and video content.
  • Experience supporting tradeshows or events from a marketing perspective.
  • Experience with eCommerce strategy or execution is a plus.
