About the Role

The Director of Marketing will provide marketing leadership and strategy that align with business goals within the NYSIF. Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, this role involves overseeing the daily operations of the creative team within the Communications Department, working closely with the Deputy Communications Director. The position aims to position NYSIF as a competitive industry leader in price, quality, and customer service through comprehensive marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual marketing plan aligned with the company's strategic goals and growth objectives.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities, trends, and challenges within the workers' compensation insurance landscape.
  • Define target audiences and develop tailored messaging and campaigns to effectively reach them.
  • Collaborate closely with client relations, sales, underwriting, claims, and product development teams to ensure marketing initiatives support overall business objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase market share, create brand awareness, and enhance customer relationships in collaboration with business teams and client relations.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, track results, and conduct post-campaign ROI analysis and reporting.
  • Oversee development, production, and distribution of all marketing materials, including online content, publications, customer documents, and materials.
  • Manage website content changes, requests, and all related website projects, ensuring the site is up-to-date, user-friendly, and optimized for lead conversion.
  • Implement and manage marketing automation platforms and CRM integration to streamline leads and tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with business leadership to communicate vision, strategy, image, and brand message across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Advise senior management on various marketing strategies including media and external communications content.
  • Foster a work environment that balances collaboration, innovation, performance, and careful stewardship of resources and relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of executive-level experience in customer/client relations, marketing, and/or public relations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage projects from inception to go-live.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Significant writing and editing experience, with an excellent grasp of grammar and content creation for websites.

  • Be current in market and industry trends, competitive analysis, marketing, communications, and business development analytics.
  • Collaborative, creative thinker, and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Progressive marketing experience in the financial services or insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and emergent trends in workers' compensation and disability coverage.
  • Experience in customer service and customer-centered approaches to written and digital marketing communication.
  • Ability to convert technical jargon into plain language for external customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of executive-level experience in customer/client relations, marketing, and/or public relations.
