Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Marketing is responsible for membership growth and improved retention through advertising, promotion, and public relations for the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, this role involves creating and implementing marketing strategies, managing media and communications, and supporting community engagement to enhance the YMCA's presence and impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement association-wide membership and marketing campaigns.
  • Generate and monitor the annual marketing budget and media plan.
  • Manage all social media, website, and digital communications.
  • Serve as the public relations contact for mass communications and press releases.
  • Assist with membership and marketing-related expos and events.
  • Coordinate printing and media vendor relationships.
  • Communicate with Branch Executives at each family center.
  • Take personal responsibility for creating, building, and enhancing relationships throughout the YMCA.
  • Provide excellent customer service and positive communication to members, participants, guests, volunteers, and employees.
  • Model and encourage YMCA character values (Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, Inclusion).
  • Support the annual campaign and other special events when possible.
  • Remain familiar with risk management procedures, including safety standards, emergency procedures, and certifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly flexible and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to think, analyze, organize, and articulate ideas and strategies independently.
  • Understanding of the purpose and mission of the YMCA and ability to relate them to others.
  • Self-directed, innovative, and creative mindset.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
  • Knowledge of social media, website management, and digital communications.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with media and print vendor relationships.
  • Experience in public relations and community outreach.
  • Experience in campaign creation and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year.
