Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading marketing efforts for the Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau, including developing and implementing strategic marketing plans to grow visitation and overnight stays. The role involves overseeing various marketing initiatives, managing staff, and supporting sales and tourism activities to promote Beaumont as a destination. This position requires 100% on-site work in a normal office environment with travel and extended hours including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for marketing efforts including the annual Beaumont CVB Strategic Marketing Plan.
  • Builds and implements innovative programs and marketing initiatives for tourism and sales.
  • Oversees all website content, social media postings, ad placements, billboard updates, and development of marketing materials.
  • Updates the Regional Visitor Guide and manages the maintenance of the CRM partner database and Extranet.
  • Creates, writes, and distributes blogs, press releases, and quarterly newsletters for the Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau.
  • Assists with meeting and sales marketing requests and supports the sales team with marketing strategies.
  • Manages tasks with marketing and tourism teams for local events, trade shows, and travel showcases.
  • Willing to travel to promote Beaumont and draw visitation.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school; some college courses in Marketing preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in sales, hospitality, or event sales preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in marketing and one (1) year related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of convention, trade show, and event business.
  • Knowledge of marketing, sales, and public relations techniques.
  • Knowledge of computers and various software.
  • Skill in making sales presentations and excellent organizational and writing skills.
  • Ability to speak and/or make presentations to groups of various sizes.
  • Ability to work well with staff, other city departments, and the press.
  • Extensive skill in the use of personal computers.
  • Physical ability to sit, hear, type, operate a PC, write by hand, file, sort, push, pull, lift objects up to 25 lbs., stand, walk, operate a calculator, enter data, and drive.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college courses in Marketing preferred.
  • Two years of experience in sales or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field with one year of experience preferred.
