Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Marketing at the Donald L Tucker Civic Center is responsible for promoting concerts, sporting events, conventions, and other activities within the facility. The role involves developing creative marketing campaigns to increase public and community awareness, maintaining relationships with media partners, overseeing media buying and billing, managing the marketing department to reach budget goals, and generating revenue for the venue. The position is part of Oak View Group, a global leader in venue development, management, and hospitality services for the live event industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide marketing support for concerts, family shows, sporting events, conventions, and other miscellaneous events / activities
  • Enhance existing promotional initiatives and develop new marketing programs to maximize ticket sales and revenue streams, including third-party partnerships, new media avenues, Food and Beverage, and non-traditional marketing opportunities
  • Create new ways to sell tickets and work with the sales team to market the venue for conventions, banquets, meetings, and tradeshows
  • Support sales efforts with creative collateral such as brochures, website enhancements, social media campaigns, and other promotional materials
  • Assist in public relations efforts including media releases, story pitches, media drops, and interviews
  • Develop and implement annual marketing goals, objectives, and manage the department budget
  • Manage all marketing, advertising, and promotional activities, including developing marketing plans and negotiating contracts with media and promotional partners
  • Explore non-traditional marketing opportunities for the venue and its events
  • Create, monitor, and evaluate the annual marketing budget and develop advertising and promotional plans for booked events
  • Maintain relationships with media partners, promoters, and entertainment agencies
  • Track, analyze, and compare event sales information
  • Manage social media platforms, create campaigns, and develop content to engage customers and vendors
  • Coordinate marketing efforts between promoters, artist management, and local media
  • Update website, marquee, and digital systems; manage and grow the venue’s database and email campaigns
  • Work with Group Sales and Premium Services managers to maximize revenues
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop marketing staff and interns
  • Prepare reports, including the Annual Report and Venue Marketing plan, and participate in conference calls
  • Research, analyze, and monitor industry trends and conduct market research and focus groups
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, preferred in marketing, public relations, business administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of responsible experience in sales and/or marketing, preferably with a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility, or similar venue
  • Knowledge of marketing, advertising, and sponsorship program development
  • Proficient with media buying, promotions, and public relations
  • Knowledge of ticketing platforms and marketing assets
  • Experience with website maintenance and digital channels including social media
  • Strong analytical skills to forecast trends using website analytics
  • Basic computer proficiency: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher, Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to project professionalism and communicate effectively with clients, management, staff, and the public
  • Digital expertise in website optimization, social media, and data collection
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers and leadership teams
  • Ability to operationalize strategies and work nights and weekends as required
  • Physical ability to operate office equipment and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels during events
