About the Role

The Director of Marketing, Game Day Experience, and Community Engagement at Concordia University, St. Paul is responsible for leading marketing, promotions, and community engagement activities within the athletics department. The role involves overseeing all visual aspects of home game day experiences, collaborating with internal offices to promote brand presence, and representing the Athletic Department in marketing and community affairs. The position reports to the Assistant AD for Communications and supports the university's values and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute marketing activities to increase attendance and ticket sales at competitions and functions, including in-game promotions and community engagement activities.
  • Facilitate the department's social media presence and digital marketing strategies in cooperation with Athletic Communications.
  • Ensure the execution of partner activations and fulfillment for sponsorship agreements, including signage, digital assets, print assets, and in-game promotions.
  • Oversee visual presentation elements such as signage, premium seating placement, branding, and apparel display for home athletic events.
  • Manage events and initiatives involving community partners, CSP departments, and student-led organizations.
  • Coordinate all aspects of game-day presentation, including video board content, PA reads, marketing contests, and special event atmosphere (cheer team, band, national anthem, halftime shows).
  • Oversee the Department of Athletics Marketing Internship Program and Graduate Assistant, ensuring proper staffing for all home athletic events.
  • Manage department's athletics apparel for internal use and external sales, maintaining brand consistency across all programs.
  • Abide by NCAA, NSIC, and CSP rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (required).
  • Previous work experience in the sports, entertainment, or hospitality industry.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic marketing plans for departmental growth.
  • Ability to create and analyze campaigns to maximize ticket sales and market exposure.
  • Experience working with internal staff to promote marketing strategies and tactics to generate revenue.
  • Experience planning and overseeing advertising and promotional campaigns for print and digital media.
  • Proficiency with email marketing, social media, advertising, branding, and in-venue production.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team and fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership abilities in changing and challenging situations.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience in the sports/entertainment/hospitality industry.
  • Experience with digital marketing and social media management.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, NSIC, and university rules and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (required).
  • Master's Degree (preferred).
