Job Description

About the Role

The Director of PR/Marketing is responsible for managing marketing and public relations activities, graphic design work, website content updates, social media management, and event support for ASUMH and the Vada Sheid Community Development Center. The role involves creative tasks, digital media management, and coordinating special events to promote the university and its programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks involving Adobe Creative Suite's Photoshop, InDesign, and Movie Maker, as well as Microsoft Office programs, on a daily basis.
  • Take photos, edit digital photos, write cutlines, and send photos to local print media with press releases daily.
  • Assist in updating website content for ASUMH and TheSheid.com, including creating images, light HTML coding, and managing content uploads daily.
  • Manage and generate followers for the university's social media accounts, perform marketing through posts, updates, contests, and encourage group interaction daily.
  • Proofread ads and various printed publications daily.
  • Support special events weekly.
  • Coordinate volunteer programs monthly.
  • Assist with student recruiting efforts as needed.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of related education and/or technical training.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Proven abilities in Microsoft Office, social media management, and graphic design software including Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop.
  • Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing software.
  • Exceptional creativity and innovation.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the latest trends and their role within an educational environment.
  • Professional approach to time and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and use of grammar.
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or Digital Design preferred.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to Have

  • Content Management Software experience.
  • Experience working with a committee to develop or submit RFPs for website projects.
