About the Role

The Director, Supplier Development & Marketing at Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits is a national leadership role serving as the key supplier point of contact and subject matter expert. The role is responsible for driving profitable growth, distribution performance, and maintaining relationships with internal and external commercial support functions. The position involves leading supplier planning, program execution, trade development, marketing, and digital capabilities to support supplier growth and engagement across the SGWS footprint. Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate, lead, create, and implement the Annual Supplier Planning Process including planning for programs, pricing, and promotions at National, Regional, and State levels for the assigned supplier(s).
  • Lead creator and collaborator for SGWS Leadership top-to-top presentations, Ways of Working (WoW) maintenance, contract compliance, critical supplier meetings, and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Lead mitigation activities for both annual and program performance, request mitigation funding as necessary, ensuring documentation and alignment with the supplier.
  • Develop, embed, and proactively resolve potential performance issues of all supplier national programs and initiatives, KPI's, new product launches, inventory management, and scorecards in line with PACE planning process.
  • Plan supplier programs, pricing, and promotions for all regions, manage accurate deployment, and track execution.
  • Communicate proactively and accurately with the Supplier Insights team and regional/state teams regarding all activities.
  • Oversee and collaborate with the Insights and Strategy team to resolve data discrepancies, maintain and negotiate goals and reporting in alignment with the supplier.
  • Manage and oversee the use of supplier marketing funds and accounts receivables with the SGWS Finance team.
  • Support contractual compliance for the inventory of assigned suppliers.
  • Create and implement innovative supplier programs by customer channel to meet strategic growth needs using SGWS analytics, insights, and digital tools.
  • Ensure engagement from regional and state commercial teams around KPIs, initiatives, and new product launches.
  • Oversee and manage all allocations, tranches, and correct sale of product by channel.
  • Lead collaboration of long-term strategies with supplier marketing entities and agencies to create and implement annual consumer marketing plans.
  • Provide insights on packaging changes, innovation, POS & marketing materials, and optimize funds and engagement.
  • Support and facilitate the adoption of SG Proof and digital enablement initiatives for suppliers, including eCommerce and marketing solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of supplier/distributor management experience in the wine & spirits industry.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and relationship management skills.
  • Understanding of insights and analytics to drive customer-focused growth plans.
  • Knowledge of channel management, pricing, and marketing plan deployment.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital platforms including SG Proof and social media platforms.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and drive organizational change.
  • Physical ability to sit, type, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.
