About the Role

The Executive Creative Director, titled internally as Creative Director, is a key leadership role at Tillamook, a rapidly growing dairy brand known for its high-quality products across multiple categories. The role involves developing and evangelizing the brand’s creative vision, overseeing brand identity, and ensuring consistent, compelling brand expression both internally and externally. The position is integral to driving brand engagement, building brand equity, and leading a high-performing creative team within a collaborative, inclusive culture rooted in stewardship and genuine care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a creative vision for how the Tillamook brand behaves, both visually and tonally, translating the brand strategy into a cohesive creative strategy.
  • Evangelize, shepherd, and drive the Tillamook creative vision across the organization and externally.
  • Lead the internal Brand Design team, including designers, project managers, and producers, and manage external freelancers and agencies as needed.
  • Oversee creative workstreams from strategy, brief, concept, design development, to final execution, including corporate branding, packaging, marketing executions, shopper marketing, direct commerce, workplace branding, B2C elements, events, and loyalty programs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments and leaders to build consensus and trust in the creative vision.
  • Partner with marketing and direct commerce leadership to create compelling creative work that drives results.
  • Build and manage a strong, inclusive in-house design team, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.
  • Develop the creative strategy based on brand insights and market shifts, establishing key differentiators.
  • Establish processes and guidance such as brand books and style guides to ensure consistent brand reflection across all creative outputs.
  • Create briefs and provide clear direction for internal/external designers and agencies.
  • Stay current on industry trends through research and networking, leading creative conversations internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of brand development experience at an agency or in-house environment.
  • 8+ years of management experience leading creative teams.
  • Proven ability to develop a vision for the design function and turn it into an implementation plan.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build trust with stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage internal and external partners.
  • Deep understanding of developing a visual language across multiple touchpoints and mediums, especially digital spaces.
  • Knowledge of current consumer trends, design, communications, and photography relevant to the food industry and grocery sector.
  • Ability to influence brand shifts due to marketplace or competitive changes.
  • Strong creative vision with the ability to provide clear direction.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and motivate teams and influence cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in creating policies and procedures impacting broader organizational practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in developing and implementing organizational design structures for creative functions.
  • Experience working with senior leadership to align creative strategies with business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Educational background with a Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in brand development and management, totaling at least 12 years, including management experience.
