About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
• Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
• Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
• Ensure a positive shopping experience through friendly customer service and department product knowledge
• Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
• Understand and utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems
• Perform duties to ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained
• Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules to provide extraordinary customer service, creating schedules every other week
• Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise according to policies and guidelines
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Record and report all associate and customer accidents
• Monitor shrink and provide coaching to recognize and prevent inventory losses
• Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials appropriately
• Maintain security standards and a neat personal appearance
• Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the position

Requirements

• A high school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Ability to lead and manage a team
• Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred
• Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or able to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment
• Ability to use computers and communication systems required for the job
• Physical ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack, lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion
• Stand 100% of the time with frequent walking
• Handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist
• Work in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
• Sufficient visual ability to check invoices and written documents

Nice to Have

• Experience in retail operations or food service management

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days
