About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Regional Growth Leader, this role will function as a key member of the sales leadership team and be responsible for driving a profitable market focused growth strategy and implementing effective management processes across both new and existing sales channels within the Northern California Market Region, U3000 Segment. The GM & Market Growth Leader will be regarded as the 'face of Cigna' to clients and producers in the local market, overseeing sales teams and collaborating with internal and external partners to achieve growth, retention, and market share objectives. This role involves representing Cigna in the community, developing external relationships, and ensuring market-level management processes are in place to meet financial and membership goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides management oversight of all day-to-day sales distribution activities within the market and responsible for implementing and executing effective management processes across both new and existing business sales channels that drive market-focused growth.
  • Develops and executes a local market growth strategy and business plan that services both the Enterprise and U3000 Segment overall growth and earning plan goals.
  • Builds and maintains strong external relationships with consulting houses, key customer accounts, health care professionals, civic organizations, brokers, and producers.
  • Represents Cigna in the community and develops external relationships to support market growth and reputation.
  • Ensures market level management processes and best practices are in place and being followed by sales management to drive results.
  • Partners with underwriting market leadership to ensure plan alignment on risk management and profitability strategies.
  • Hires, develops, and maintains a diverse and high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or related field; Master's and/or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 8+ years in a strategic and leadership role in a service, sales, healthcare, health plan, or broker/consulting environment.
  • 7+ years leading and managing sales teams at a buyer group and/or market level.
  • Broad knowledge and proficiency in sales distribution, healthcare, and external relationship management.
  • Ability to influence and garner support from matrix partners across the enterprise.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing actions to support a vision/mission and driving outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel 50%+ regionally and nationally as needed.

  • Proven ability to lead organizational transformation and deliver sustainable results.

  • Educational background in business, healthcare, or related field.

  • Proven track record of managing and developing sales teams.
