About the Role

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is one of the world's largest independent & privately-owned specialty coffee & tea retailers, with over 1200 cafes in 24 countries. The company is on an inspiring journey to become the world's coffee & tea brand, emphasizing connecting people through daily rituals of coffee & tea. The Head of Marketing, Americas, will lead the marketing function for the region, building the brand, driving profitable sales, and ensuring brand consistency across markets. The role involves collaborating with global teams, managing marketing strategies, and inspiring a diverse Brew Crew team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Executive Team to develop annual & long-term business plans, strategic objectives, & initiatives.
  • Establish objectives for the Marketing team, developing organizational capability & models of collaboration.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, including branding best practices & consumer insights to inform decision making.
  • Inspire, support, engage, & partner with franchisees & their teams to build the brand & drive profitable sales.
  • Drive best practice Performance Marketing strategies & execution, including Loyalty & CRM programs.
  • Collaborate across global & regional teams to ensure alignment & consistency in brand execution & marketing strategy.
  • Translate business objectives into strategic marketing goals & oversee their execution.
  • Create & own an integrated marketing calendar for the Americas in collaboration with global marketing.
  • Develop overall marketing & promotional plans supporting business segments in partnership with internal departments.
  • Lead adaptation of global brand strategy & guidelines for the Americas to ensure relevance.
  • Manage all aspects of the U.S. Centralized Marketing Fund in collaboration with Finance & Legal teams.
  • Develop & monitor marketing budgets & operating expenses.
  • Identify & manage external strategic partners, agencies, & vendors.
  • Lead consumer research initiatives to uncover perceptions & behaviors to inform strategies.
  • Set up & own marketing metrics dashboards including ROAS, LTV, CAC, & social media engagement.
  • Lead food & beverage innovation strategies for market-specific needs & collaborate with supply chain & product teams.
  • Oversee creation & maintenance of the U.S. business menu, retail product assortment, channel & pricing strategies.
  • Use loyalty & CRM-led strategies to drive customer lifetime value & brand engagement.
  • Monitor sales & margin results, adapting strategies to meet performance goals.
  • Manage digital & social media executions supporting marketing plans.
  • Identify appropriate marketing organizational structure & provide coaching & developmental opportunities to team members.
  • Challenge & inspire team members & promote a successful team attitude.
  • Participate as a member of the Global Marketing Council.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of increasingly senior marketing experience in multi-unit retail, restaurant, food & beverage, or related consumer packaged goods business.
  • Multi-unit café/restaurant experience, particularly in a franchise environment, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated bias for action & a self-starter attitude.
  • Experience with international businesses in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong digital marketing experience across in-store, online, & retail marketing channels.
  • Proven track record of building strong business results.
  • Ability to translate ideas into successful implementation plans.
  • Leadership ability in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong presentation, critical thinking, & analytic skills.
  • Creative instincts & aesthetic sense.
  • Ability to build, develop, & inspire a marketing team.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships & performance.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
