About the Role

The Head of Messaging and Governance at NetApp is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive messaging strategy that connects the brand to demand. This role involves working cross-functionally to define core narratives, ensure messaging consistency, and support marketing, sales, and product development efforts within the context of Intelligent Data Infrastructure and key customer imperatives such as Data Modernization, Cloud Transformation, AI, and Cyber Resilience. The position emphasizes collaboration, market intelligence, and thought leadership to drive strategic objectives and reinforce the NetApp brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and articulate a clear, differentiated, and impactful messaging framework that aligns with Brand, Strategic Demand, and the four customer imperatives.
  • Develop messaging that effectively communicates the value of solutions to target personas, addressing specific needs and pain points.
  • Craft compelling narratives and stories that resonate with target audiences, translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible, and persuasive messages.
  • Establish and enforce brand governance to ensure consistency and compliance across all marketing and communication channels.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure messaging effectiveness and make data-driven adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Build foundational messaging and core pillars, partnering cross-functionally to inform the creation of marketing and sales collateral such as white papers, presentations, and website copy.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and other teams to ensure messaging alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Gather insights from stakeholders, test messaging with customers and partners, and refine messaging accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Insights team to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and evolving customer needs.
  • Partner with thought leadership teams to tie messaging to initiatives and leverage key moments for market impact.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the Brand to Demand team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing messaging strategies for B2B technology companies, especially in AI, Cyber Security, Cloud, and Data Infrastructure.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and compelling narratives.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, customer imperatives, and competitive dynamics within the Intelligent Data Infrastructure space.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive alignment and message consistency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
