About the Role

The I-HACK Social Media Assistant position at Gannon University involves managing and creating content for social media platforms related to I-HACK programs and projects within the College of Engineering and Business. The role includes supporting office functions, event coordination, and developing marketing strategies to promote I-HACK initiatives, with a focus on effective communication and technology proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and contribute to various social media platforms related to I-HACK and its programs.
  • Gather content, schedule posts in business suite, and communicate with professors, faculty, and students about current projects and experiences.
  • Research, create, and implement marketing communications strategies for social media accounts, adjusting plans each semester based on objectives and KPIs.
  • Assist with management and content development of internal and external websites related to I-HACK.
  • Provide receptionist support, route traffic, answer basic questions, and assist visitors to the office or department.
  • Make deliveries around campus, create and maintain spreadsheets, and contribute to campus events and office functions.
  • Aid in scheduling lab/classroom space requests and coordinate recruitment and retention events.
  • Create marketing materials such as flyers, activities, and digital graphics to promote events and programs.
  • Conduct research on higher education trends, industry partners, community contacts, and educational updates.
  • Assist in coordinating and planning recruitment and retention events, including creating promotional materials.

Requirements

  • General office skills and the ability to follow directions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Excellent public relations and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team, demonstrating maturity, sound judgment, and emotional stability.
  • Articulate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills.
  • Ability to gather and accurately enter information into records, spreadsheets, and logs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Adobe, Canva, and similar tools.
  • Experience with popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and follow a set schedule.
  • Interest in engaging with students, faculty, and business partners for content creation.
  • Proficiency in taking photos and recording quality videos for social media.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with event management and creating marketing materials.
  • Knowledge of higher education trends and industry contacts.
  • Previous experience in social media content creation and strategy development.
