About the Role

The IT Trainer/Content Developer will deliver IT training to staff on custom and commercial-off-the-shelf applications, develop and update training content, and collaborate with technical staff and business units to meet training needs. The role is based in Atlanta, GA, with a hybrid work model, and involves working within a team to deliver statewide training on approximately 40 applications related to transportation topics. The position requires engaging adult learners, managing training schedules, and maintaining accurate records within Learning Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Add to the priorities, procedures, objectives, and guidance of their Team Leader and IT management.
  • Keep the Team Lead fully informed of work schedule, technical issues/risks, or any travel or accommodation concerns, and proactively communicate to mitigate issues.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of IT applications to effectively teach and guide learners.
  • Maintain, coordinate, and communicate training schedules and course offerings with end users and stakeholders.
  • Ensure training environments and data are ready prior to classes.
  • Conduct virtual classroom training, on-site classroom sessions, and webinars/user group sessions.
  • Establish effective relationships within IT, Human Resources, and across business units to identify training gaps and increase class enrollments.
  • Reserve conference rooms/equipment, confirm enrollments, make travel arrangements, and travel safely.
  • Conduct online training using Microsoft Teams and in-person training in conference rooms or computer labs.
  • Provide an engaging, interactive, and positive learning experience.
  • Complete enrollments, course attendance, and completions, and assign scores/grades within the LMS.
  • Send out surveys to obtain feedback and improve training delivery.
  • Maintain proper recordkeeping within LMS, including time/activity tracking and performance indicators.
  • Ensure travel expenses, taxes, and billing forms are correct, submit expense reports, and comply with travel policies.
  • Review and update training materials and documentation.
  • Produce effective training content, publish course materials, and develop/update training resources such as guides, manuals, storyboards, and videos.
  • Engage with technical staff to develop training content and support IT projects, including user acceptance testing and rollouts.
  • Adapt and respond effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused IT environment.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in communications, teaching, IT, or a similar field, or an associate degree with 2 years of IT experience, or IT certifications with 4 years of IT experience.
  • Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications experience (5 years).
  • Work experience in IT technical training or with computers, technology, IT applications/systems, or end-user support (4 years).
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication, presentation, and teaching skills (5 years).
  • Ability and flexibility to travel within the area to provide scheduled in-person training classes (1 year).
  • Experience in developing role-based end-user training content for IT applications/systems (4 years).
  • Experience in instructional design, visual design, storyboarding, and writing instructional text, audio/video scripts (2 years).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Captivate (2 years), TechSmith Camtasia (2 years), Articulate 360/Storyline (2 years), and Microsoft Teams (1 year).
  • Experience maintaining training records within an LMS such as Oracle LMS or Workday LMS (1 year).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Oracle LMS/Workday LMS.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, teaching, IT, or similar field.
  • Associate degree with 2 years of IT experience; or IT Certifications with 4 years of IT experience.
