Lead IT Analyst (Quality Assurance)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develops test strategy document and provides relevant updates throughout project lifecycle.
• Develops risk mitigation & contingency plans related to the test strategy.
• Owns test script development and execution, data sourcing/data provisioning, defect analysis, and ensures proper test result documentation and processes are followed.
• Leads QA test planning meetings and holds team accountable to following the test strategy document.
• Works with project manager to determine preliminary QA project plan, necessary resources, project environment, and timeline.
• Provides key updates to project manager on test execution and progress as well as validation on test execution quality.
• Prioritizes and allocates tasks to multiple contracted resources (onshore and offshore).
• Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews QA deliverables.
• Conducts presentations regarding QA status and current issues.
• Escalates risks and areas requiring management intervention.
• Manages all aspects of QA testing through the full project lifecycle, from blueprinting to implementation.
• Applies subject matter expertise to improve product and process quality, including shift-left testing approaches.
• Leverages automation of regression test scripts to reduce time and resource expenditure.
• Maintains full traceability between requirements, test cases, test execution, and defects.
• Prepares and maintains knowledge transfer documentation for onboarding and staff retention.
• Writes SQL queries to validate software functions.
• Ensures comprehensive testing coverage including functional, regression, automation, system integration, performance, and acceptance testing.
• Collaborates with applications team to meet quality standards and business requirements within project timelines.
• Executes and updates automation scripts and test cases via automation tools and programming.
• Collaborates with test architects, developers, analysts, scrum masters, PMO, and business SMEs to incorporate test automation into the overall test strategy.
• Continuously improves test plans to simulate real-world user scenarios.
• Participates actively in blueprinting and project development meetings such as backlog grooming and sprint planning.
• Keeps up to date with changes to POS, iOS hardware, and software.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) years of QA experience or related occupation, including:
• Three (3) years as a QA lead in Store Operations such as POS, Kronos WFM, Workjam task management systems, or Mobile Applications.
• Three (3) years of hands-on testing experience with Store & Mobile applications including REST and SOAP API testing, automation scripting, and tools such as Cucumber, Selenium, and Appium.
• Experience testing Micros POS, Kronos (WFM), Workjam (Task Management), or Mobile OS/platforms (iOS, Android) and device types.
• Hands-on experience managing and driving test automation as part of QA delivery.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Harness, CircleCI, TeamCity.
• Ability to manage multiple test events and projects simultaneously.
• Experience working with offshore resources and leading teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Experience with SCM tools such as GIT or SVN.
• SQL skills for test validation.
• Designing test strategies and end-to-end test scenarios.
• Experience working with JIRA, Zephyr, XRay for test case and defect management.
• Knowledge of various testing types and quality improvement strategies.

Nice to Have

• Experience with automation testing frameworks and scripting languages.
• Familiarity with the retail POS environment and mobile hardware/software updates.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of five years QA experience, including leadership and hands-on testing with store and mobile applications.
