Manager, Sports Marketing, Snow

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a diverse roster of the world's best snow sports athletes.
• Scout and find new talent for the athlete team.
• Negotiate athlete contracts, including retainer, bonus, athlete days, and social media expectations.
• Work closely with regional teams (NORA, APAC, EMEA) to leverage athletes globally, with a focus on the US market.
• Partner with product teams to ensure athlete feedback and roundtables are taking place.
• Create yearly athlete goals for each athlete.
• Act as a conduit to bring athlete stories and achievements to internal and external audiences.
• Play an advisory role in athlete expedition proposal processes.
• Identify the next generation of snow athletes and nurture those relationships.
• Position The North Face as the best-in-class snow team in the industry.
• Identify opportunities to integrate athletes into marketing and communication efforts.
• Manage expeditions from start to finish, including overseeing budgets, athlete accomplishments, product integration, and working with production partners.
• Track and share athlete goals and accomplishments through updates and newsletters.
• Provide assessments of athletes' career and athletic goals.
• Coordinate product training sessions with category managers and designers.
• Facilitate seasonal sample buys with the sports marketing coordinator.
• Ensure PR and social media teams are aware of major athlete moments and accomplishments.
• Oversee or support snow-specific partnerships with key partners.
• Maintain clear communication with the Global Head of Sports Marketing.

Requirements

• Five or more years of sports marketing experience.
• Experience with exposure and involvement in the climb, ski, snow, and trail scenes.
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of sports management and the sports industry.
• Ability to demonstrate ideas, processes, innovation, and soft and hard skills.
• Knowledge of the outdoor clothing market and retail space.

Nice to Have

• Experience negotiating athlete contracts and managing athlete relationships.
• Global understanding of snow sports and athlete markets.
• Experience working with international regions such as NORA, APAC, and EMEA.
