About the Role

The Director of Marketing will lead a high-performing, multi-functional marketing team at Tyler Technologies, responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability for the Public Safety division. The role involves turning business objectives into marketing tactics through research, content development, and metrics analysis, while collaborating with various marketing functions, sales, and division leadership. The Director will also manage budgets, ensure strategic alignment, and serve as a senior leader within the division, with a focus on brand consistency and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing plans for Tyler products that include lead generation initiatives, sales collateral, trade advertising, media relations, events marketing, and divisional communications.
  • Position multiple products within the same functional areas based on differentiation, client size, market segment, and future development plans to minimize marketplace confusion.
  • Develop Division marketing budgets, ensure plans are executed within budget, provide quarterly revised projections, and reconcile reports.
  • Ensure evaluation systems are in place to report on progress and measure ROI on marketing investments.
  • Act as senior consultant and advisor to division leadership for all marketing and communications initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate vision and initiatives.
  • Provide marketing counsel, guidance, and direction to division leadership teams, facilitating open communication to align marketing priorities with business goals.
  • Develop divisional key messages to ensure consistency across all marketing materials and audiences.
  • Project manage marketing deliverables to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Act as division spokesperson for media inquiries and PR opportunities.
  • Manage a team of campaign, content, and trade show professionals, supporting their efforts and removing obstacles.
  • Aid in staff development through ongoing guidance, training, and direction.
  • Create and execute strategies for all solutions within the business unit, balancing multiple marketing functions and responding to various leaders.
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for all major product groups.
  • Gain a full understanding of products, key features, differentiation points, and market positioning.
  • Ensure brand consistency and standards are maintained across all marketing efforts.
  • Establish and manage marketing priorities, meet budgets and deadlines, and manage multiple projects of varying complexity.
  • Lead and influence others to accomplish goals, demonstrating management and leadership principles.
  • Cultivate a high-performance organizational culture emphasizing teamwork, integrity, and work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or comparable work experience.
  • 12+ years of marketing experience in a business-to-business or business-to-government environment.
  • 5+ years of direct management experience leading a team of marketing professionals.
  • Marketing experience in the public safety sector preferred.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to generate impactful marketing messages, demonstrated through writing samples and references.
  • Technology/software industry experience required; public sector experience preferred.
  • Experience managing various marketing projects including direct marketing, video, advertising, collateral, and web content.
  • Trade show and/or user conference experience preferred.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.
  • Experience in leadership or management roles is a plus.
  • Understanding of graphic applications, media files, and web/interactive marketing.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to exceed expectations.
