About the Role

At AstraZeneca, we turn ideas into life changing medicines. Working here means being entrepreneurial, thinking big, and working together to make the impossible a reality. We are committed to unlocking the potential of science to address unmet needs and profoundly impact patient lives. Our Respiratory team is at the forefront of leading innovation in inhaled therapies, guided by our patient-centric vision and dedication to improving respiratory health worldwide. The Marketing Director, HCP, Respiratory Specialty plays a pivotal role in crafting our commercial strategy for the Inhaled Respiratory portfolio within the Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit. This leader will drive the development, execution, and measurement of brand strategy across all healthcare professional (HCP) marketing channels, reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing. The role involves strengthening brand presence, achieving business goals, guiding a high-performing team, and collaborating across functions to ensure strategic and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction, design, execution, and performance measurement of HCP focused marketing strategies and tactics to achieve brand objectives for the Inhaled Respiratory franchise.
  • Build, implement and optimize a marketing strategy for HCPs across various channels in coordination with Sales and other teams for brand efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the brand team, including performance management, talent development, and succession planning for future marketing leaders.
  • Deliver robust strategic and operational commercial plans that reflect core brand positioning, messaging, and campaigns—supporting new market/channel development, sales integration, and overall ROI analysis.
  • Make informed decisions on P&L, revenue, and investment; analyze and challenge forecast assumptions, and support launch and lifecycle management plans adaptable to patient and market needs.
  • Partner with Managed Markets to co-create a compelling value story and pricing model; assess investment viability for innovative brand programs using scenario planning and ROI analysis.
  • Guide test market pilots and evaluate the rollout of new programs based on data-driven findings and business priorities.
  • Cultivate positive relationships within the Commercial team and with external leaders, customer advocacy groups, and other partners to improve brand strategy and implementation.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance functions to ensure promotional planning and execution adhere to all guidelines and standards.
  • Drive a diverse, collaborative, and agile culture within the marketing team and throughout cross-functional interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, marketing, or life sciences.
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience, including at least 5 years in direct pharmaceutical marketing and promotions with a strong record of successfully delivering strategic and operational plans.
  • Hands-on experience leading and developing teams, coupled with a strong track record of leadership through change and ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional business units.
  • Proven financial acumen, including the ability to manage P&L, deliver growth, and assess program investments using robust analysis and scenario planning.
  • Strong understanding of local healthcare system pricing, reimbursement, and market dynamics.
  • Outstanding presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and adaptability in a fast-evolving market environment.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PharmD, or equivalent).
  • Experience in the Respiratory therapeutic area and/or with HCP marketing for specialty products.
  • Proven expertise in market access/managed markets and deep knowledge of payer and reimbursement strategies.
  • Experience leading digital, cross-channel and integrated brand initiatives.
