About the Role

The Marketing Strategy Consultant at Southwest Airlines is responsible for initiating, assisting in developing, and driving strategic plans to address business needs and improve performance within their assigned functional areas such as Customer Development, Local Strategy, Traffic, Southwest Business, Southwest Vacations, and Loyalty Promotions. This role involves leveraging customer data, traffic and revenue analysis, demand generation, and brand monitoring to support marketing initiatives. The position requires working from the Dallas, TX headquarters and emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and strategic planning aligned with Southwest Airlines' values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and presenting strategic business and marketing direction for assigned functional areas such as pricing policies, sale plans, media plans, and advertising messaging to drive performance improvements.
  • Facilitate and co-lead cross-functional and cross-departmental coordination to support marketing strategic initiatives, align routine activities, and drive joint solutions.
  • Analyze operational performance, business processes, customer insights, and future needs to build strategies that identify key challenges, diagnose root causes, and recognize performance improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as a resource to help employees and departments understand marketing strategies, drive initiatives, and design methodologies for project delivery.
  • Evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and establish a comprehensive understanding while distinguishing user/customer requests from underlying needs.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Marketing teams to deliver strategic projects and tactical plans on time, within budget, and scope.
  • Build relationships with business owners, take a consultative approach, and follow through on project timelines.
  • Represent marketing and facilitate two-way communication between Marketing and cross-functional teams within the Commercial organization.
  • Work with leadership to align priorities, address project work constructively, and develop personal growth plans.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Advanced experience and specialized knowledge in marketing campaign development, strategic planning, and cross-functional project collaboration.
  • Knowledge of marketing business metrics such as conversion rate and engagement rate.
  • Skilled in developing marketing briefs, creating and presenting business cases, and performance reporting.
  • Proficient in problem solving and deriving actionable insights from data.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to deliver quality work within a low-cost environment.
  • Ability to perform work duties from an office setting for extended periods.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S., at least 18 years old, and able to meet attendance standards.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Tableau.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of 360-degree marketing planning.
