About the Role

The Pharmacy Automation Systems Specialist 2 is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of automated drug devices within the medical center. The role involves developing and implementing plans to ensure devices operate efficiently, managing user databases, medication availability, and reports to maintain compliance with security and financial goals. The position also includes leading less experienced staff, overseeing complex projects related to pharmacy automation, and ensuring quality standards are met in a hospital setting at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead less experienced staff in the operation and maintenance of over 200 automated drug devices across various nursing units and pharmacies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automated drug devices to ensure optimal operation.
  • Manage user databases, medication availability, and generate reports to ensure compliance with security, financial, and inventory goals.
  • Develop and implement proactive and reactive plans to keep devices operating efficiently.
  • Review quality aspects of device usage through reports and support continual upgrades in collaboration with manufacturers.
  • Act as a team leader for complex projects, assignments, and issues related to pharmacy automation devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of pharmacy automation experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Familiarity with various hardware configurations, software applications, SQL, and file storage systems.

  • Experience in Pharmacy or Pharmacy operations.
