About the Role

The Project Coordinator I at Texas A&M Agrilife Research in the Department of Animal Science is responsible for supporting departmental communications, content creation, and event support. The role involves coordinating with marketing teams, developing multimedia content, and assisting with strategic communication campaigns to promote departmental achievements and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works in coordination with AgriLife Marketing and Communications team and upholds the quality and standards of AgriLife communications and marketing.
  • Develop written, visual, and multimedia content for the department's social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, etc.).
  • Write and edit content for the department's website, ensuring timely updates and alignment with university branding and strategic messaging.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to identify newsworthy stories and create articles, graphics, or videos to promote departmental achievements, research, and student success in coordination with AgriLife Marketing and Communications.
  • Respond to departmental communication requests, including writing announcements, event promotions, and internal memos.
  • Serve as the point of contact for digital signage requests and coordinate the posting of approved content.
  • Assist in the development of omni-channel marketing for departmental communications.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Communications with planning, promotion, and execution of departmental events, including seminars and internal events.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of strategic communications campaigns tied to major departmental initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, agricultural communications, journalism, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to create content for web and social media.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for special events.

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in using digital content tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with agricultural industries.
  • Experience working in higher education communications.
  • Basic photography and/or video editing skills.
  • Understanding of strategic audience engagement best practices.
  • Collaborative and self-driven skills including storytelling abilities, digital content creation, and engaging with students, faculty, and stakeholders.
