Job Description

About the Role

The University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant to support multiple projects aimed at serving families of autistic children and the systems that support them. The role involves working on initiatives such as the OASIS Training Program, developing a statewide resource center, and educational events focused on preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences. The Research Assistant will be cross trained to support each project as part of the larger research team, assisting with dissemination materials, event coordination, recruitment, data collection and analysis, grant activities, and research tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate project activities such as training, webinars, community collaboration calls, team meetings, and data collection.
  • Assist with data collection, data entry, data management, and other related tasks.
  • Coordinate training schedules across collaborators with supervisor and trainees; assist with standard office responsibilities such as preparing materials and filing.
  • Complete assessments during baseline, post, and follow-up sessions.
  • Attend scheduled trainings and staff meetings.
  • Utilize professional writing skills and knowledge of standard research practices and data collection tools in performing work.
  • Create and maintain a social media presence to share information about grants and activities, including recruiting provider agencies and state organizations for dissemination.
  • Identify, connect with, and maintain connections with resources and community providers for individuals with disabilities, organize resources, and work with the IT unit to input data into online databases.
  • Assist with grant or research-related tasks and standard office responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • At least 2 years' experience with grant implementation, data management and analysis, program development, and public-facing training activities in a collaborative environment.
  • At least 1 year experience managing social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong oral communication and professional writing skills.
  • Knowledge of standard research practices and data collection tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and/or Google Suite applications.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree.
  • At least 1 year experience training others in clinical or professional settings.
  • Understanding of scientific approaches to treatment such as Applied Behavior Analysis, especially involving children.
  • Experience conducting interventions or research with children with autism or related projects.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Educational background: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Work experience: Minimum 2 years in grant implementation, data management, program development, and training; 1 year managing social media platforms.
