About the Role

The Sales Manager, East Coast at ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. is responsible for expanding and managing sales activities within the eastern half of North America, focusing on diagnostic manufacturing equipment and life science applications. The role involves working with customers in laboratory and manufacturing environments, promoting automation solutions, and contributing to healthcare and life sciences markets. The position requires a self-motivated sales professional with technical aptitude and experience in capital equipment sales, supporting the company's mission to improve lives through innovative automation technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand sales territory across the eastern half of North America, including the US and parts of Canada.
  • Maintain CRM and territory management tools to track customer interactions and sales activities.
  • Close large dollar capital sales and manage extended sales cycles.
  • Convey technical details of automated liquid handling platforms to customers, including laboratory and manufacturing clients.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to clients, demonstrating product value and technical features.
  • Plan and report on sales activities and project progress.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and support ongoing business relationships.
  • Act as a customer advocate while managing business success and sales targets.

Requirements

  • Experience maintaining CRM and territory management tools.
  • Experience closing large dollar capital sales with extended sales cycles.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling platforms.
  • Experience selling into laboratory and/or manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of life science applications is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to convey technical details to non-technical individuals.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Moderate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate tenacity, drive, self-motivation, and a competitive spirit.
  • Minimum undergraduate degree in business or sciences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in selling to general life science laboratories.
  • Experience with capital equipment sales in the $50K to $1M range.
  • Experience supporting point of care testing and life science discovery.
  • Knowledge of in-home testing, diagnostics, and market trends in healthcare technology.

  • Undergraduate degree in business or sciences.
