The Senior Client Relationship Executive (SCRE) is responsible for the overall relationship and financial management of our most complex clients, including large clients with complex benefit plans, clients purchasing Absence Management services, and clients with complex technology needs. This role is a key strategic relationship management and revenue-generating position focused on long-term growth and partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains productive, professional relationships with key personnel for assigned clients and brokers.
  • Collaborates with support, service, and management resources to meet client expectations and provide value-added solutions.
  • Meet annual retention targets, business growth targets (including cross-sell), and client loyalty goals through benefit administrator satisfaction surveys.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate client needs on an ongoing basis and create communication plans to relay information to clients and brokers.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal departments to oversee resolution of issues.
  • Participate in finalist presentations, representing Sun Life account management and service value story.
  • Partner with territory EBR / NAEBR to ensure mutual understanding of territory goals and develop plans of action.
  • Partner with Implementation Consultant during the implementation process.
  • Conduct consistent, proactive education/outreach communication with brokers/clients via meetings, calls, emails, webinars, etc.
  • Facilitate the renewal process, including renewal preparation and consultation with internal teams.
  • Act as liaison for agency partners and internal teams, bridging relationships between policyholders and the home office.
  • Manage business using Salesforce, ensuring all client and broker activities are documented.
  • Travel 50-60% depending on territory, and demonstrate leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.

Requirements

  • Superior presentation skills and strong knowledge of Sun Life product and service offerings, including Absence Management solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex client relationships and resolving issues.
  • Ability to approach business planning strategically and creatively.
  • Resilience and ability to react positively to changes, maintaining focus and flexibility.
  • Results-oriented with collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently and within a team.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with understanding of product pricing, profitability, and risk/underwriting rules.
  • 5+ years of industry experience, preferably in Employee Benefit or Group Benefit design, with national or strategic account management experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Must hold current insurance license or be able to obtain immediately.
  • Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) designation preferred.
