Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee an actionable website strategy to align with institutional goals.
  • Participate in relevant stakeholder meetings, bringing strategic perspectives based on insights, data, and best practices.
  • Receive and analyze content requests from department and institutional stakeholders to develop engaging digital experiences for the .EDU channels.
  • Manage multiple content initiatives simultaneously and support the development of a proactive .EDU content strategy agenda, incorporating emerging trends and audience insights.
  • Support the website needs of the research community and identify opportunities to promote discoveries on internal and external channels.
  • Establish and maintain an editorial calendar for timely and relevant content updates.
  • Define and incorporate audience insights and performance data to improve user experience.
  • Execute and enhance organic growth initiatives, focusing on improving search reach for strategic pages.
  • Serve as the editorial lead for all .EDU content, overseeing creation and curation of copy, graphics, and multimedia elements.
  • Ensure content consistency and quality across all initiatives, maintaining brand voice and strategic goals.
  • Lead a team of writers, editors, and content creators, providing direction and feedback.
  • Manage content timelines, workflows, and resources to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Establish content governance processes, guidelines, and standards for .EDU content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure content aligns with broader content strategy and enhances reputation.
  • Become a subject matter expert on the Drupal component library and support web experience development.
  • Evaluate performance against KPIs and make data-driven content enhancements.
  • Monitor and improve audience engagement across all .EDU initiatives.
  • Align SEO, GEO, and AI Search strategies with content and audience needs.
  • Collaborate with marketing, IT, brand, media relations, and internal communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and optimize communication opportunities.
  • Partner with brand standards and governance teams to ensure content compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of content professionals, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in content strategy, website management, or educational content development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Previous experience and/or ability to function as an editorial lead.
  • Passion for storytelling, content creation, and engaging web audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills, with effective stakeholder management.
  • Ability to understand and learn from data-driven insights.
  • Proficiency in tools and platforms for content creation, distribution, and performance tracking.
  • Experience working with content management systems such as Drupal or Adobe Experience Manager.
  • Familiarity with UX writing best practices and website accessibility guidelines.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience in content strategy, development, and management within the non-profit sector.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, focusing on medical writing and content creation.
