About the Role

The Senior Director, Worldwide Media Planning at Bristol Myers Squibb will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's global media capabilities. Reporting to the Head of Integrated Content Delivery, this leader will partner with senior brand and business unit stakeholders to shape media strategy, develop media plans and KPIs, and drive innovation through AI and modern tools. The role involves designing insights-based planning frameworks, ensuring accountability across vendors, promoting transparency in media investments and performance, managing significant budgets, overseeing external media vendor relationships, and leading a team of media professionals to scale media excellence globally in support of business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Govern and influence enterprise-wide integrated media strategies tied to commercial objectives that align across therapeutic areas and business units, ensuring consistency while allowing for local market adaptation to maximize impact.
  • P&L accountability for all media investments, optimizing allocation across channels, vendors, and geographies to deliver measurable ROI and value for the organization.
  • Build and lead the global media function with succession planning, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration, while developing future leadership in the media team.
  • Lead strategic partnerships with global brands and senior leadership to define enterprise media priorities and capital allocation, ensuring media investments support overarching business and commercial goals.
  • Integrate and align omnichannel strategy at the enterprise level to develop media strategies that enable an optimal marketing experience.
  • Oversee enterprise-wide omnichannel execution, including risk and compliance management with third-party media vendors.
  • Establish enterprise planning and governance models focused on insights-based frameworks that enable rapid decision-making, transparency, and measurable impact across global markets.
  • Lead the transformation of media through AI-driven insights, modern analytics, and emerging technologies to accelerate innovation.
  • Own enterprise policy and governance frameworks, ensuring vendor and agency partner accountability and performance.
  • Negotiate global partnerships and alliances with media vendors, driving innovation and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and strategic priorities.
  • Shape data strategy, compliance, and risk management to improve access to media and engagement data, promote data-sharing practices, and enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive transparency, compliance, and enterprise-wide reporting of media investments and performance to ensure alignment, accountability, and trust among stakeholders.
  • Scale media capabilities across the enterprise globally.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in media strategy, planning, and execution within a global organization, with a strong preference for pharmaceutical or healthcare experience.
  • Proven success in engaging senior executives and brand leaders to align on strategic media priorities.
  • Experience managing large, complex media budgets with accountability for ROI.
  • Leadership experience in developing and managing teams in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Deep knowledge of AI-driven media tools, analytics, and data-enabled optimization.
  • Strong background in establishing KPIs, governance frameworks, and vendor accountability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
