About the Role

The Senior QA Automation Engineer - Networking will be part of the Customer Validation Testing (CVT) team at Cisco, which develops solutions powering the largest networks worldwide. The role involves collaborating with a global team to automate and qualify influential networking technologies, including IOS-XR platforms such as ASR9K, NCS5500, and 8000, impacting high-end Cisco Web and Service Provider customers. The team operates from centers in the US, Canada, and India, and focuses on innovation, automation, and continuous improvement in network testing and validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, automate, configure, and qualify customer use cases based on IOS-XR platforms, including generating test plans and prioritizing tasks based on customer demands.
  • Develop innovative test frameworks and tools to support test execution environments, including web-based GUIs utilizing analytics and machine learning to display and analyze results.
  • Drive test cases manually and through automation, track and verify defects and fixes, and improve test coverage and automation performance.
  • Reproduce customer issues in internal test labs as requested by the customer support team and generate corresponding test executions.
  • Collaborate with development, account teams, and customers to understand and validate customer use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in STEM with 7+ years of relevant experience or Masters in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of programming experience with Python or Go.
  • Networking domain experience with L2 or L3 protocols such as ISIS, BGP, MPLS, IPv6, GRE, MPLS-TE, LDP, RSVP, Segment Routing, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN.
  • Experience in networking automation and software quality assurance.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with GIT, Jira, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline tools.
  • Industry certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, or Cisco DevNet.
  • Experience with network automation frameworks like pyATS, Pytest, Ansible, and Robot.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools like Grafana, Telegraf, Elasticsearch, and InfluxDB.
  • Experience working with traffic generators such as Ixia and Spirent.
  • Knowledge of network programmability using gNMI, gRPC, NETCONF, YANG, REST APIs, RPC.
  • Strong Linux experience, including virtualization and containerization technologies like KVM, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning is a plus.
  • Hands-on understanding of Cisco IOS/IOS-XR platforms.
