About the Role

The Social Media Community Specialist at Wheeler Clinic develops and implements effective strategies for the prevention of prescription drug, opioid, alcohol, tobacco, and other drug misuse. They work closely with community partners, funders, and stakeholders to promote health, recovery, and prevention initiatives through social media, community outreach, and resource dissemination. The role involves statewide travel, community engagement, and collaboration to support Wheeler's mission of providing equitable access to innovative care and promoting healthier lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for the prevention of prescription drug, opioid, alcohol, tobacco, and other drug misuse.
  • Coordinate and staff community resource vans to provide substance use prevention and harm reduction resources at various events and community areas statewide.
  • Develop social media and marketing materials, update websites, and manage social media platforms to support prevention and health promotion efforts.
  • Participate in community and agency events, traveling statewide to disseminate prevention and harm reduction materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, funders, and stakeholders, and create new partnerships as appropriate.
  • Assist in developing messages and supporting statewide and local prevention campaigns in collaboration with funders.
  • Collect, report, and manage demographic, statistical, and evaluation data for programs and activities.
  • Train on prevention and health promotion topics as qualified and appropriate.
  • Support program planning, coordination, and community outreach efforts.
  • Promote Wheeler Clinic's Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery and its activities throughout the state.
  • Adhere to prevention operating standards, guidelines, and ethical practices.
  • Continuously develop knowledge about the populations served, including cultural, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender, and ability differences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, human services, or a related field.
  • Critical thinking skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth, adults, and diverse populations in prevention, with a focus on primary and environmental prevention in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Excellent documentation skills, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Expertise in social media, health promotion, and marketing.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to drive statewide.
  • Willingness to acquire or currently hold Prevention Specialist certification.

  • Experience working with primary and environmental prevention in a culturally responsive and respectful manner.
  • Experience in health promotion and community outreach.
