About the Role

The Social Media Specialist at Advocate Aurora Health is responsible for executing and contributing to the organization's social media strategy to facilitate access, awareness, and engagement across various platforms. The role involves creating, designing, and writing content for social media audiences, supporting brand promotion, community engagement, reputation management, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and partners to develop compelling stories and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes and contributes to overall social media strategy by posting regularly on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube to inform stakeholders, increase engagement, maintain reputation, and promote campaigns.
  • Creates daily posts and implements paid advertising strategies with branded images, including educational videos, infographics, and lead generation ads.
  • Travels to locations to photograph content for social media use.
  • Monitors social media pages to ensure appropriate comments and promptly addresses community questions, reviews, and concerns.
  • Provides input into strategic direction for social media channels and participates in creative brainstorming sessions.
  • Supports content promotion through social media internally and externally, collaborating with operations and system teams.
  • Provides primary coverage for social platforms during weekday hours and as needed outside of work hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Manages reputation by executing strategies and monitoring all social channels for timely responses.
  • Supports and covers community and partner events, serving as live social media support for system-wide and site events.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and clinical professionals to develop engaging stories that enhance the brand.
  • Pulls social media reports and creates dashboards on a monthly or as-needed basis.
  • Responds to reviews and works with internal stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Maintains monthly editorial calendars supporting brand goals, paid social ads, community partnerships, and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience managing social media platforms daily.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to operate independently in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians, management, and executives.
  • Proficient in Google Analytics, Microsoft Office, and familiar with WordPress and social media management tools.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday.
  • Position requires travel and exposure to weather and road hazards.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with social media industry news and best practices.
  • Experience in content creation including video shooting and graphic design.
  • Experience with paid advertising campaigns and content editing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • 3 years of social media management experience.
