About the Role

SMX is recruiting for a results-driven Software Test Engineer to be responsible for designing and running tests on software usability. The role involves analyzing test results, reporting observations to the design team, and interacting with clients to understand product requirements. This is a remote position supporting a Hawaii-based team, with a focus on ensuring software quality through various testing methodologies and collaboration with development and design teams.

Key Responsibilities

Review software requirements and prepare test scenarios.
Execute tests on software usability.
Analyze test results on database impacts, errors or bugs, and usability.
Prepare reports on all aspects related to the software testing carried out and report to the design team.
Interact with clients to understand product requirements.
Participate in design reviews and provide input on requirements, product design, and potential problems.
Conduct thorough software testing, analyze data, write test cases, and communicate with developers.
Check software functionality on different operating systems, browsers, and devices to ensure standards and user needs are met.
Communicate the results of software testing efforts to stakeholders and suggest areas of improvement.
Lead the technical system testing effort through all testing types and cycles.
Support planning and execution of user acceptance testing systems and activities.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, or related field.
3+ years of experience as a software tester or software quality assurance specialist.
Up-to-date knowledge of software test design and testing methodologies.
Working knowledge of test techniques and compatibility with various software programs.
Working knowledge of programming.
Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
Good organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
Understanding of various programming languages like Java, C++, and Python.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of computer architecture and tools for manual testing, unit testing, integration testing, functional testing, and bug-tracking systems.
Demonstrated success in software development lifecycle management (SDLC).
Experience with CI/CD tools and platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Travis CI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Relevant software testing certifications including CSTE, ISTQB Agile Tester Certification, or CAST.

Qualifications

Relevant certifications such as CSTE, ISTQB Agile Tester Certification, or CAST are preferred.
