Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Data Warehouse QA Engineer ensures the quality and integrity of the data warehouse and lakehouse platforms. This role works as part of an agile team, writes test automation scripts, validates Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes, ensures data quality, and verifies business logic. This role collaborates with data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, business partners and other stakeholders to maintain and build trust in the quality of the data provided in the data warehouse environment. The Senior Data Warehouse QA Engineer reports to the Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts for data validation and ETL processes.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage for data pipelines and transformations.
  • Ensure test case library is version controlled and part of the Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC).
  • Validate ETL processes to ensure accurate and timely data integration.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies and inconsistencies.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation rules to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor data quality metrics and perform regular audits.
  • Verify business logic and data transformations to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to understand and validate business rules.
  • Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to support data quality initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues.
  • Write test cases for User Stories and Features.
  • Operate in an Agile environment working as part of an Agile Scrum team in project sprints.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, test scripts, and data validation procedures.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data quality assurance and testing.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
  • Complete required regulatory training as assigned.
  • Maintain strict adherence to and compliance with all laws, rules, regulations, and internal controls specific to the role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of hands-on experience in data quality assurance, ETL validation, and test automation.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and Python.
  • Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong experience with data quality assurance best practices.
  • Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as Azure SQL Server, Synapse, or Databricks.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python or equivalent.
  • Must be bondable.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the financial services/credit union industry.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure SQL Server, Databricks, and other data platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
  • High level of organization and prioritization.
  • Strong analytical skills with high level of detail orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to write and develop test automation scripts for data validation.
  • Ability to write test cases and clarify acceptance criteria in User Stories.
  • Ability to collaborate with business and IT teams on data quality initiatives.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues.
