About the Role

As the US healthcare landscape continues to evolve, the traditional pharma / biotech focused approach to bringing therapies to patients is no longer optimal. Increasingly, transformational break-through therapies will require innovative growth solutions focused on both internal strategic initiative optimization and new, unique external innovations (e.g., AI tools, patient identification processes, etc.). The role involves driving strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of innovation for the Biogen North America commercial organization. This role will focus on innovating and modernizing internal operations and processes for Biogen North America via creative experimentation with new pilots and by introducing new external tools, best practices and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead Biogen North America's Enterprise Modernization program, working cross-functionally to continuously identify and execute on new initiatives to modernize and rethink existing ways of working and internal operations and processes.
  • Source and bring in novel, external solutions-providers, vendors, experts, and best practices to drive growth-driving innovations within our businesses.
  • Provide strategic thought partnership and expertise to business unit and functional areas to ideate, develop, refine, and execute innovation initiatives.
  • Provide support to the development of business cases and investment proposals for innovation initiatives.
  • Provide cross-functional alignment, coordination, and communication support to ensure the successful execution and delivery of innovation initiatives.
  • Source and communicate external insights, research, and points of view on innovation.
  • Drive the annual 'Innovation Pitch' event to showcase external start-ups, vendors, and solutions providers that address key challenges and needs for our business areas.
  • Arrange events/discussions/panels for leaders and colleagues, featuring key innovation topics and external speakers and experts.

Requirements

  • 12+ years experience across healthcare commercial disciplines (e.g. management consulting, marketing, market access, strategy, business development).
  • Experience and deep understanding of healthcare ecosystems.
  • Strategic thinker with understanding of policies, practices, and procedures, and the ability to influence change.
  • Ability to drive and lead through change and ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to project manage complex and innovative programs cross-functionally and with external partners.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly convey ideas to key internal organizational stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead within the matrix and establish and maintain momentum through formal channels and informal networks.
  • Ability to work independently in executing multiple strategic projects under tight and rapidly evolving timelines.

  • Experience in healthcare management consulting, marketing, or business development.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare ecosystems.
  • Strong project management skills for complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Base salary range of $230,000.00-$316,000.00, determined through an analytical approach considering skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
