About the Role

The Senior Director of Marketing at Cogent Biosciences is responsible for developing and leading brand strategy and marketing initiatives for the Systemic Mastocytosis (SM) indication, focusing on the company's flagship product bezuclastinib. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, external partners, and executive leadership to promote the company's mission in rare disease and oncology indications, with opportunities to contribute to a first product launch in a high unmet need area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal marketing leader and subject matter expert on Systemic Mastocytosis.
  • Leads the development of HCP strategic plans and promotion with measurable outcomes to achieve business/product goals.
  • Leads the development of tactical plans that will achieve the goals set forth in the marketing strategy.
  • Collaborates closely with the field sales team including sales leadership, sales training, and field representatives to ensure execution of marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Leads the HCP marketing efforts and oversees their execution.
  • Builds and implements best in industry capabilities for segmented channel marketing while collaborating with key internal stakeholders and external strategic partners.
  • Continuously monitors and analyzes marketing trends and technologies, introducing innovations to the organization.
  • Works cross-functionally with teams leading other indications to develop and evolve marketing strategies that promote brand goals while ensuring compliance.
  • Develops impactful strategies for multiple audiences throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develops a budget and resourcing plan for the HCP marketing function, tracking financial spending and adjustments.
  • Establishes and communicates KPIs, providing ongoing monitoring, reporting, and optimization.
  • Identifies potential external partners and collaborates on contract negotiations aligned with business goals.
  • Manages agencies of record and external vendors, ensuring effective campaign execution and ROI.
  • Provides campaign analysis, marketing mix assessments, and disseminates best practices.
  • Coordinates work across internal departments and external vendors, including legal, regulatory, medical, and analytics teams.
  • Demonstrates leadership with internal customer-facing teams, especially sales and sales training, to ensure effective promotional tools and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry in Marketing, Sales, and/or Business Development.
  • Experience in both small and large companies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated confidence and comfort in dealing with executive leadership.
  • 5 years of Brand Management experience with recent in-depth US commercialization background.
  • Experience engaging with SM KOLs and conducting scientific discussions.
  • Experience as a team/people leader.
  • Recent (1-3 years) rare disease and/or oncology launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and strategic problem-solving ability.
  • Outstanding project management skills managing multiple vendors and priorities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with regulatory, legal, and medical teams on promotional materials.
  • Significant experience managing budgets, assessing investments, and tracking expenditures.
  • Some travel required (up to 25%).
  • Location: Boston, MA (surrounding areas).

Nice to Have

  • Systemic Mastocytosis (or relevant rare disease) knowledge of current therapies, testing landscape, and biomarkers.
  • Sales experience at the representative or line manager level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech marketing, sales, or business development.
  • Deep US commercialization experience in brand management.
  • Experience engaging with KOLs and conducting scientific discussions.
  • Experience managing teams and external vendors.
