About the Role

The Creative Director leads the vision and execution of major storytelling campaigns like Back to School and Holiday, crafting emotionally resonant, culturally relevant narratives across all channels. This role requires a concept-first thinker with a strong portfolio in omni-channel advertising, capable of managing both internal creative teams and external agency partners. The position involves strategic leadership, team development, cross-functional collaboration, and full campaign oversight from ideation through post-production. The ideal candidate brings over 12 years of high-level conceptual advertising experience, blending hands-on creative skills with leadership and a deep understanding of consumer behavior in retail. Proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Google Slides is essential, along with a passion for trend-driven, human-centered storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the creative vision for seasonal brand campaigns, aligning with overall brand strategy and enterprise initiatives.
  • Manage, build, and coach a multidisciplinary team of creatives, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster creative excellence.
  • Mentor, guide, and grow the team with optimism and enthusiasm, pursuing an award-winning in-house agency model.
  • Conduct performance evaluations to enhance creative output and build skillsets such as conceptual capabilities, ideating, presentation, strategic alignment, public speaking, and critical thinking.
  • Identify new, competitive talent to add to the team.
  • Work closely with senior leadership, marketing strategy, insights & planning, production, and other stakeholders to craft inspiring campaigns.
  • Manage team and projects to ensure work is on-brief, strategic, creative, and comprehensive for presentations, mitigating feedback and keeping workstreams on track.
  • Partner with Creative Account Management, Operations, and Production to manage timelines and execute concept breakthrough creative on schedule and within budget.
  • Build strong relationships with marketing and peer teams to accelerate expertise and business growth.
  • Manage campaign projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and strategic alignment.
  • Lead the ideation of strategic, relatable, and engaging concepts, including creating decks, adlobs, and overseeing talent/crew selection.
  • Direct post-production processes including editing, color, sound, and design, and be accountable for final asset delivery.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, culture, and emerging design technologies, incorporating relevant trends into brand concepts.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Creative Director in the advertising or retail industry.
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating idea-first, human-centered, dialogue-driven ad campaigns.
  • Experience with large-scale, omni-channel brand campaigns for enterprises or clients.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to inspire and lead creative teams and partner agencies.
  • Excellent understanding of consumer behavior within a retail landscape.
  • 12+ years of experience in conceptual campaign advertising with a successful leadership track record.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Slides, Slack, and Figma.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments leading brand design in-house or at an agency.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in graphic design, advertising, brand strategy, or a related field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Marketing, Creative Writing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience leading creative teams, or 9 years of experience in similar roles.
