About the Role

The Vice President of Marketing & Brand Development is a key executive leader responsible for shaping and executing the strategic marketing, communications, and branding efforts for the National Western Stock Show, its year-round operations, and the broader National Western brand. This position will lead integrated marketing, media, and public relations efforts to elevate the organization's visibility, engagement, and reputation across diverse audiences. The role involves championing the promotion of the Stock Show while building brand equity for associated programs and initiatives within a historic organization dedicated to promoting agriculture, western heritage, education, and community development since 1906.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead comprehensive marketing strategies for the National Western Stock Show and all associated programs.
  • Align all brand messaging across digital, print, broadcast, and in-person channels to reflect the mission and values of the Western Stock Show Association.
  • Identify and drive growth opportunities to expand visibility, attendance, and community support.
  • Steward the overarching National Western brand, ensuring consistency across all platforms and touchpoints.
  • Oversee brand identity for key assets such as the Legacy Building, Western Art, National Western Club, and other initiatives.
  • Lead campaigns that highlight agriculture, western heritage, education, and economic impact.
  • Serve as chief communications strategist, directing PR efforts to promote the Stock Show, campus activities, and organizational leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media partners, journalists, and influencers to generate positive press and thought leadership.
  • Manage press releases, crisis communications, and executive messaging.
  • Lead digital marketing initiatives including website content, social media, email marketing, and paid media.
  • Utilize data analytics and CRM insights to drive engagement and campaign performance.
  • Create content calendars and storytelling strategies that reflect the organization's voice.
  • Create tailored marketing strategies for various programs and events, collaborating with internal teams and partners.
  • Supervise marketing, creative, and communications staff, contractors, and agency partners.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to meet organizational goals.
  • Manage budgetary tasks related to the Marketing Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, brand development, or public relations, including leadership roles.
  • Strong background in integrated marketing campaigns, strategic branding, and media relations.
  • Experience in event marketing, nonprofit, agriculture, or Western heritage sectors is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, manage budgets, and deliver measurable results.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of marketing analytics, CRM systems, and digital advertising platforms.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and build strong relationships.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agriculture, livestock, rodeo, or western heritage sectors.
  • Experience managing large-scale events and campaigns.
  • Familiarity with Denver or Colorado community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing or related fields.
  • Leadership experience in marketing, brand development, or public relations.

  • Base salary starting at $125,000 to $150,000 annually plus bonus and incentives.
