Job Description

About the Role

The VIE HPC Tester and Developer for GEOS (M/F) based in Stanford, USA, is part of a collaborative project between TotalEnergies, Stanford University, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The role involves developing and testing a multiphysics simulation tool called GEOS for CO2 sequestration research, leveraging high-performance computing architectures. The position supports the deployment, performance analysis, and maintenance of GEOS on supercomputing systems, contributing to innovative subsurface simulation efforts in carbon storage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on the continuous integration and continuous deployment of GEOS using GitHub actions.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve the performance of GEOS using profiling tools like Caliper, and conduct weak and strong scaling studies, roofline plot analyses.
  • Help the development team in maintaining and supporting GEOS for the user base.
  • Deploy and test the results and performance of GEOS on high-performance computing systems.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or engineering degree in computer science or related field.
  • Previous experience in scientific computing required.
  • Skills in high-performance computing scientific software development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and methods.
  • Interest in learning about subsurface simulation and CO2 storage.
  • Knowledge in scientific computing for solving physical problems such as heat or mass transfer and mechanical deformations.
  • Proficiency in C++ coding (advanced level).
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration.
  • Knowledge in HPC profiling tools.
  • English language proficiency at level C1.
  • French language proficiency at level B2/C1.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with profiling tools for high-performance computing.
  • Interest or experience in subsurface simulation and geomechanics.
