Job Description

About the Role

Join our team as a HPC Testeur et Développeur for GEOS, a collaborative project between TotalEnergies, Stanford University, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The role involves developing and testing a high-performance subsurface simulator (GEOS) that couples multiphase flow and geomechanics, aimed at advancing CO2 storage site evaluations. The position is based in Stanford, CA, and offers an international experience with a focus on sustainable energy solutions and scientific innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the deployment and continuous integration of the GEOS simulator using GitHub Actions.
  • Participate in performance evaluations of the code, including profiling and scaling analysis (roofline plots).
  • Ensure operational maintenance of GEOS on TotalEnergies' computing systems.
  • Assist in testing and deploying the simulator on various HPC platforms.
  • Support the optimization of simulation performance on high-power computing infrastructures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or engineering diploma in computer science.
  • Previous experience in scientific computing.
  • Advanced proficiency in C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and methods, especially GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with HPC profiling tools and performance analysis.
  • Interest in subsurface simulation and CO2 storage.
  • Knowledge of scientific computing for physical problems such as heat transfer, mass transfer, or mechanical deformations.
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level) and French (B2/C1 level).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with software deployment and maintenance in high-performance computing environments.
  • Knowledge of parallelization and performance scaling of scientific applications.
