About the Role

The Area Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to generate referrals, increase admissions into programs, and maintain client census at budgeted levels. The role involves establishing, maintaining, and marketing positive relationships across various industries and agencies, while positioning Eckerd as a provider of choice for youth. The position supports the growth and integration of community-based and residential programming within the assigned area, contributing to the long-term viability and expansion of Eckerd's services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, build, and maintain relationships with possible referring agencies, organizations or individuals, and successfully convert prospects into active customers.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan based on research and analysis of the market area to achieve admissions and referral goals within the overall business development strategy and budget.
  • Research and analyze market trends to ensure the long-term viability of the programs.
  • Develop strategies to ensure a consistent flow of admissions into the private academies and other Eckerd programs.
  • Represent Eckerd's private academies at national, regional, and local conferences to promote the company and broaden the referral base.
  • Partner with Admissions and Operations staff to coordinate support services and maximize client recruitment and placement efforts.
  • Implement activities to generate youth referrals and maintain excellent relations with current and prospective customers.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with programs and Admissions.
  • Ensure complete market coverage, maintain accurate database and call documentation, and produce timely reports.
  • Collect information to refine programs, identify opportunities or problems, and serve as a communication conduit between the program and customers.
  • Represent Eckerd positively and professionally in marketing and client relations events and activities.
  • Research funding streams to support the long-term viability of Eckerd programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Business, or social services/healthcare related field.
  • Five years of experience in a related field, demonstrating skill and effectiveness in generating referrals from professionals, with extensive experience possibly substituting for degree.
  • Strong customer-focus, marketing skills, and ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, exercise initiative, judgment, decision-making, and flexibility.
  • Excellent people skills, strong presentation and persuasion skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Drive for results and ability to negotiate and influence decision makers.
  • Computer literate with basic word processing and database skills.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license, meet auto insurance requirements, and be able to drive for business purposes.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, communicate via telephone, travel regularly, lift/move up to 25 pounds, and be free of communicable diseases.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in marketing or business development within healthcare or social services fields.
  • Knowledge of funding streams and grant opportunities for program sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Five years of related experience in generating referrals from professionals.
