About the Role

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the overall business production of an assigned banking center. A successful candidate will build a profitable banking center through outside sales and promotion of bank products to qualified clients, ensuring ethical oversight of bank operations and fostering a positive environment that provides superior client experience and associate engagement. This role offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated, results-oriented sales professional to build a banking center from the ground up, with career progression opportunities based on experience, account numbers, deposits, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produces, measures, manages, and sets strategy for sales based on daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeted goals.
  • Responsible for generating the majority of new business for the banking center through own leads and follow-up on leads from targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Works closely with marketing and retail teams to coordinate marketing campaigns and sales activities, suggesting focus areas and strategies.
  • Establishes and actively connects with target client groups, including a minimum of 12 COI connections annually, and participates in civic leadership programs, local Chambers of Commerce, and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Spends at least 80% of time in outside sales, marketing bank products to potential clients, explaining financial services, interviewing clients, taking loan applications, quoting rates, closing loans, and cross-selling products.
  • Conducts at least 15 pre-set sales calls and 20 other sales activities weekly.
  • Ensures client experience is 'fast, easy, and personal' by modeling, training, and recruiting correct behaviors.
  • Holds team accountable for banking center procedures to ensure profitability and security, including operational and security protocols.
  • Maintains a safe work environment, ensuring premises are well-maintained, hazard-free, and compliant with regulations.
  • Ensures adherence to all bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws, promoting an ethical environment.
  • Supervises approximately two associates, including hiring, coaching, scheduling, counseling, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Conducts regular team meetings and provides feedback to support associate development and career growth.
  • Ensures satisfactory outcomes of audits and reviews by compliance, internal audit, deposit operations, and regulatory bodies.
  • Protects client and bank information confidentially and follows company policies.
  • Communicates and instills the company's mission, vision, and values.
  • Completes monthly training on bank regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Works at the designated worksite during regular or assigned hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Salesforce platform preferred.
  • Proven track record of business development skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with common computer programs (Windows, MS Office, email).
  • Ability to be NMLS licensed and registered.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of outside sales experience required, preferably in financial services or technical sales.
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience, with supervisory experience in sales preferred.
  • Financial services aptitude.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to motivate and coach others.
  • Understanding of retail banking loan and deposit products preferred.
  • Travel within the local region is required, with a valid driver's license in the primary residence state.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (implied), with preference for Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of outside sales experience.

  • Minimum salary of $60,000 - $70,000 per year with potential incentive compensation based on achievement of goals.
