About the Role

The Associate Brand Manager role is a hybrid position based in Earth City, MO, within the Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands. The company is a leading supplier of consumer products for the home, lawn and garden, insect, and weed control markets, with well-recognized brands such as Spectracide®, Hot Shot®, Cutter®, Repel®, Black Flag®, Garden Safe®, EcoLogic®, and Liquid Fence®. The role involves working with, leading, and earning respect across functions, managing one or multiple brands, and contributing to business growth and product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage long- and short-term growth and profitability of assigned product lines through tactics like cost optimization, market innovation, and data analysis.
  • Participate in and support the annual planning process, including financial and business analysis, consumer planning, agency collaboration, and P&L development with sales and profit objectives.
  • Support the development of the overall vision for product pipeline, strategies, and portfolio mix.
  • Assist in directing consumer research strategies and executing them in partnership with Consumer Insights.
  • Develop compelling stories with Sales and Consumer Insights teams to create insights-driven, retailer or channel-specific solutions aligned with brand strategies.
  • Serve as the voice for the brand portfolio for key stakeholders including sales, R&D, regulatory, operations, and finance.
  • Lead product management from inception to discontinuance for assigned products.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop business-building ideas, working with team members to execute plans that meet investment criteria.
  • Gain alignment and buy-in from cross-functional partners on key initiatives.
  • Analyze business performance (shipment and consumption) to assess progress against brand objectives and develop program recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience assisting in new product development from concept to market launch.
  • Experience supporting annual marketing plans, including advertising, media, and consumer promotions.
  • Knowledge of developing pricing strategies and managing product P&Ls.
  • Solid understanding of consumer research methodologies.
  • Experience participating in key account sales presentations and collaborating with sales and other departments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and teamwork approach.
  • Strong leadership qualities and a results-driven mindset.
  • Creative abilities and proficiency with business software applications (e.g., MS Office).
  • Strong presentation skills and maturity to train subordinates.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Experience in the consumer products industry.
  • Additional experience in marketing or product development roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (required), MBA (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
