About the Role

The Associate Brand Manager for Home & Garden at Spectrum Brands is responsible for managing specific brand or multiple brands within a leading consumer products company. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to drive long- and short-term growth and profitability of product lines, supporting strategic planning, product development, and market analysis. The position offers an opportunity to develop into a future organizational leader in a dynamic environment focused on innovative, high-quality products for the home, lawn, and garden markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and support the annual planning process including financial and business analysis, consumer planning, and P&L development to ensure brand budgets are accurate and appropriate.
  • Support in developing overall vision for product pipeline, development strategies, and product portfolio mix.
  • Support directing consumer research strategies and execute in partnership with Consumer Insights.
  • Support in development of compelling stories working with Sales and Consumer Insights teams for high-quality, insights-driven, retailer or channel specific solutions that link to brand strategies.
  • Serve as the 'voice' for the assigned brand portfolio for all key constituencies, including sales, R&D, regulatory, operations, and finance.
  • Understand and lead product management and development from inception to discontinuance for assigned products.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and developing business-building ideas and work with team members to execute plans that meet investment criteria.
  • Work to gain alignment and buy-in from cross-functional business partners on key initiatives.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive analysis of objectives, execution, and future planning implications, including analyzing business performance to gauge performance against brand objectives and developing key implications and program recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with a strong track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience assisting in new product development from concept to market introduction.
  • Experience assisting in the development and execution of annual marketing plans, including advertising, media, and consumer promotion planning.
  • Experience in developing pricing strategies and managing product P&Ls.
  • Solid grasp of consumer research methodologies.
  • Participation in key account sales presentations and collaboration with sales and other departments.
  • Analytical mindset, results-focused, team-oriented, creative abilities, strong presentation skills, maturity to train subordinates, and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Experience with new product development processes from concept to market.
  • Experience with advertising, media, and consumer promotion planning.
  • Experience working closely with sales and functional departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • MBA (strongly preferred)
