About the Role

The Business Developer SLED role at Staples, Inc. involves hunting within a defined territory to pursue account penetration by winning new sites and expanding the customer base through high-velocity sales activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently meet activity goals and daily metrics with a hunter mindset, including outbound calls, live contacts, and opportunity creation.
  • Partner with Account Management to determine site hunting strategies within existing accounts.
  • Travel to meet clients face-to-face and visit new sites to maintain and grow sales relationships across the account hierarchy.
  • Develop expertise on contract and coop availability within designated geographies.
  • Influence on-the-spot pricing decisions to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Manage the sales funnel to close opportunities effectively.
  • Discover prospects' needs through professional selling skills and communicate Staples' value propositions, capabilities, products, and assortments.
  • Overcome objections and close sales using prescribed selling tools and document customer engagement.
  • Work closely with customer support, category specialists, and other internal teams to progress deals to closure.
  • Implement and ramp up wins, driving compliance to new accounts and programs.
  • Communicate daily with prospects in person and face-to-face in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of successful sales experience or success as a Staples B2B Sales Associate.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook (1-3 years).
  • Strong drive and a desire to win, with a proven ability to view rejection as a learning opportunity.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations virtually and in person.
  • Consultative, solutions, insight selling, negotiation, and advanced client management skills.
  • Strong business, financial, operations, and technology acumen.
  • Ability to analyze business and industry trends to create tailored solutions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Motivation to find, develop, and close sales.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
  • Experience in Education, State & Local government sectors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
