Job Description

About the Role

This position is responsible for growing the Medical Group revenues, reputation and image by selling, servicing, and maintaining targeted large accounts. The Business Development Executive establishes relationships in customer organizations, assists in training sales teams, negotiates and develops distribution contracts in targeted healthcare organizations, and develops and implements sales and marketing programs to drive growth, increase market share, create brand loyalty, and achieve sales and profitability goals. The role involves working closely with sales, marketing, and healthcare services teams to communicate key initiatives and market trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell, negotiate, and implement distribution contracts with large customers and corporate accounts, including drafting contracts, reviewing pricing, and developing implementation plans.
  • Provide ongoing support to new and existing customers through regular contacts, maintaining relationships, and implementing strategic programs for account penetration.
  • Monitor sales, gross profit, and work with customers to ensure compliance, financial commitments, and profitability.
  • Develop and conduct customer business reviews.
  • Interpret and communicate strategic information to sales teams to ensure competitive strategies are understood and executed.
  • Recommend actions to address or respond to competitive threats or service needs in the marketplace.
  • Develop and lead educational sessions at company meetings to drive awareness and training of large accounts.
  • Work with sales management, operations, and global teams to create sales/marketing strategies, ensure contract compliance, and support services and implementation activities.
  • Participate in the development of promotional plans, including trade shows and events.
  • Assist in creating presentation materials for customers and sales force training.
  • Support special projects as assigned by the Regional GM.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in medical sales or marketing in medical distribution or manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with IDNs and large physician offices.
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of medical organization structures including GPO, MSO, IPA, IDNs, hospitals, ASCs, RPCs, physician offices.
  • Knowledge of product categories including diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical-surgical supplies, medical equipment, and related services.
  • Basic computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with purchasing software, ERP systems, and understanding of supply chain processes in healthcare.
  • Ability to give professional presentations to board-level executives.
  • Strong negotiation skills and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, decision making, and time management skills.
  • Typically 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in relevant professional experience.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with team selling.
  • Knowledge of inventory management.
  • Understanding of various technologies including punch out, cXML, XML, EDI, e-Catalogs, hosted catalogs.

Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in a related discipline.
  • Master's degree or global equivalent preferred.
  • May hold two or more industry certifications.
