About the Role

This position is responsible for growing the Medical Group revenues, reputation and image by selling, servicing, and maintaining targeted large accounts. The Business Development Executive establishes relationships in customer organizations, assists in training sales teams, negotiates and develops distribution contracts in targeted healthcare organizations, and develops and implements sales and marketing programs to drive growth, increase market share, and create brand loyalty. The role involves working closely with sales, marketing, and healthcare services teams to ensure customer satisfaction and market competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell, negotiate, and implement distribution contracts with large customers and corporate accounts, including developing draft contracts, reviewing pricing, and creating implementation plans.
  • Provide ongoing support to new and existing customers through regular contacts, maintaining relationships, and executing strategic programs for account penetration.
  • Monitor sales, gross profit, and work with customers to ensure compliance, financial commitments, and profitability.
  • Develop and conduct customer business reviews.
  • Interpret and communicate strategic information to sales teams to ensure competitive strategies are understood and executed.
  • Recommend actions to address or respond to marketplace competitive threats or service needs.
  • Develop and lead educational sessions at company meetings to promote awareness and training of large accounts.
  • Collaborate with sales management, marketing, and global services to create sales/marketing strategies, ensure contract compliance, and support customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in the development of promotional plans, including trade shows and community events.
  • Assist in creating presentation materials for customers and sales force training.
  • Support special projects as assigned by regional management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in medical sales or marketing within medical distribution or manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with IDNs and large physician offices.
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical organization structures such as GPO, MSO, IPA, IDNs, hospitals, ASCs, RPCs, physician offices.
  • Knowledge of product categories including diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical-surgical supplies, and medical equipment.
  • Understanding of the medical markets, trends, competition, and key manufacturers.
  • Experience in developing new business initiatives and coordinating relevant services into customer programs.
  • Basic computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, PowerPoint, and familiarity with purchasing software, ERP systems, and supply chain processes.
  • Ability to give professional presentations to board-level executives.
  • Strong negotiation skills and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, decision making, and time management skills.
  • Typically 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in relevant professional experience.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with team selling.
  • Knowledge of inventory management.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as punch out, cXML, XML, EDI, e-Catalogs, hosted catalogs.

Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in a related discipline.
  • Master's degree or additional industry certifications are preferred.
