About the Role

The Business Development Specialist at GLS-US is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the business development team, developing strategies to drive business growth, managing client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities. GLS is an established provider of time-critical package shipping solutions operating in over 40 countries across Europe for more than 30 years, now expanding into the US market with a focus on faster and more flexible logistics services. The role involves supporting the company's growth journey by building a new kind of logistics company that makes customers' lives easier and contributes to their achievements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve company goals.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and market trends.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align business development initiatives with overall company strategy.
  • Supervise and mentor the business development team.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities.
  • Analyze competitor activities and market trends to adjust strategies.
  • Prepare and present market analysis reports to senior management.
  • Develop and monitor sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Implement initiatives to drive sales growth and increase revenue.
  • Track and report on sales performance against targets.
  • Develop and manage the business development budget.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize return on investment.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to budget.
  • Work closely with marketing, product development, and other departments to support business development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the finance department to ensure accurate financial forecasting and reporting.
  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities and results.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and sales activities.
