About the Role

The Analyst, Category Development plays a pivotal role in driving the Coffee & Beverage Division's success by driving sales, market share, equity, and overall category growth through strategic insights and thought leadership. This role involves influencing category strategies for customers by utilizing industry knowledge, shopper insights, and business analytics. The position requires collaboration with both field and headquarter-based partners to identify growth opportunities, leverage advanced analytics, and develop optimal assortment strategies, all while keeping the shopper at the center of decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a consultative approach that guides customers in establishing their category direction.
  • Build trust with retailers and internal partners by maintaining an objective focus on category development and consistently identifying growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to fostering a cohesive culture and strong connections among cross-functional teams across Headquarters and Field.
  • Act as a representative of the Category Management team to both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze category trends and business opportunities, providing recommendations that benefit both our business and our customers.
  • Deliver actionable business insights to enhance distribution, shelving, and quality merchandising (promotion).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in syndicated data sources and tools, such as Circana and/or Nielsen, and possess advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Serve as the team’s expert in key analytical tools, collaborating with the HQ Category Management team to develop new insights.
  • Lead category reviews to establish optimal assortments and recommend best-in-class aisle flow strategies.
  • Enhance the Coffee & Beverage Division’s Omnichannel business with customers, including increasing share of search, building online engagement, and driving shopper loyalty in partnership with internal Shopper Marketing and eCommerce teams.
  • Utilize tools and data to generate new insights and translate the company’s category narrative into customer-specific growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Category Development and customer teams to develop and implement annual strategic priorities and goals for category strategy and vision.
  • Assist customer teams with Joint Business Planning (JBP) and other preparations for meetings with buyers, as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in category management, sales, marketing, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in Analyst, Category Development, or Sales Support roles within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Familiarity with syndicated data (e.g., Circana/Nielsen) is preferred.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Basic understanding of financial principles.
  • Knowledge of the CPG industry.
  • Strong persuasive communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Capacity to build diverse and collaborative relationships.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Comfort in presenting and communicating cross-functionally.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic, changing, matrix environment.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with syndicated data sources such as Circana and Nielsen.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in related fields.
