About the Role

The position of Commercial Development Manager (CDM) - Business Planning at Nestlé USA is a strategic role based in Arlington, VA, responsible for improving the sales business development process, driving category and segment growth, and supporting operational success through forecasting, resource allocation, and trade spend management. The role involves leading business planning processes, providing insights to customers, and collaborating with marketing and division leadership to develop and deploy strategic plans that align with brand objectives and market trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve the Nestlé USA Sales business development process and achieve sales volume, category, and market share growth targets.
  • Lead a specific Category Annual and Monthly Business Planning Process for the GCK division's seasonal business.
  • Provide category and segment insight to selected customers and update Field Sales on business development opportunities.
  • Monitor and communicate results of initiatives to Field Sales and customers.
  • Ensure operational success via forecasting accuracy, sales performance targets, and customer service improvements.
  • Achieve volume goals within assigned Commercial Spend budgets and lead trade spend reviews for categories and segments.
  • Finalize trade fund strategy objectives and deploy rates to support Joint Business Planning and promotional/pricing priorities.
  • Serve as a category, channel, and customer authority for division brand teams and guide field sales teams.
  • Advance category driving activities with marketing and division leadership.
  • Own the development and deployment of the Commercial Action Plan (CAP).
  • Develop New Item Execution Plans and presentations, incorporating brand objectives, growth drivers, and category strategies.
  • Review customer and channel strategies by category and build Channel & Customer CAP Strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Sales or Marketing preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Knowledge of core Business Processes such as Sales/Distribution, Customer Planning, Financial Reporting, and Quality Fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Strategic and Integrated Commercial Planning processes.
  • Understanding of Customer Best Practice, Market Intelligence, Category/Channel/Shopper trends, and shopper insights.
  • Experience with business-driving technology solutions (e.g., Nielsen, BW, Source) and industry insights.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Sales or Marketing.
  • Knowledge of business driving technology solutions and industry trends.
